During this discourse with the Jewish leaders, John presents the situation in a trial motif. But it wasn’t Jesus on the trial. Rather, the world was put on trial by Jesus. All of Scripture bares witness to Jesus, and the question is whether the world will be found guilty or not guilty in recognizing and accepting the Son of God.
